Day 1Edmonton - Calgary - Medicine Hat, AB
Depart home city and meet fellow passengers en route to Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, a stunning new facility where you can step back in time and experience the Blackfoot culture. A local interpreter will take you on a guided tour of the park, where you will enjoy exhibitions of native dance and crafts. Stop by the restaurant and taste some of the traditional food. Continue to Medicine Hat, known as the "Hat" to locals, as well as the "Gas City", referring the the gas reserves underground. Check into the hotel for the evening. Days Inn or Similar
Day 2Medicine Hat - Moose Jaw, SK
This morning, visit Fort Walsh Interpretive Center and take a guided tour of the fort’s buildings, the Fort Walsh town site, two cemeteries and a reconstructed whiskey trading post. Explore the ridge along Battle Creek and view exhibits in the Visitor Reception Centre. Travel a short distance and arrive in Moose Jaw. Evening is at leisure to enjoy the mineral pool attached to the hotel. Temple Gardens Resort
Day 3Moose Jaw & Regina Day Trip
A local guide will board our coach for a tour of Moose Jaw. Hear the stories of Al Capone and Chief Al Johnson of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and how the police impacted prohibition during the 1920’s. Travel the short distance to Regina and visit the RCMP Heritage Centre, celebrating the rich history of the “Men in Red” and their effect on western Canadian history. Return to Moose Jaw for the evening.
Day 4Moose Jaw - Saskatoon, SK
Today travel north toward Saskatoon, Saskatchewan’s largest city, passing numerous prairie towns en route. Visit Waneskuwan Park, hugging the bank of the North Saskatchewan River. Within its 760 acres there are 19 pre-contact sites that represent the active society of Northern Plains Peoples. Here you will find summer and winter camp sites, bison kill sites, tipi rings, an arrangement of boulders called a medicine wheel, and artifacts such as pottery fragments, plant seeds, projectile points, egg shells and animal bones, all within a compact area. See a tipi raising, an outdoor bannock back and perhaps even some traditional dancing. Continue to Saskatoon for the evening.Sandman Hotel
Day 5Day Tripp'n!
Tour the Western Development Museum, offering the social and economic history of the province of Saskatchewan in a network of four exhibit branches. Then continue to the Batoche and visit the Batoche National Historic Park, on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, displaying the remains of the Batoche Village. It was the last battlefield of the Northwest Rebellion in 1885 and where Louis Riel set up his headquarters. The site depicts the lifestyle of the Metis of Batoche in the mid 1800’s. Take time to view the 30 minute video at the Visitor Reception Centre. End the day with a one hour floating river cruise under Saskatoon’s seven bridges and through the city’s most popular residences. The rest of the evening is at leisure.
Day 6Saskatoon - Edmonton - Calgary, AB
We are homeward bound today to our own province of Alberta, taking memories of our neighboring prairie province, rich in history and culture.
