| Day 1 | Calgary, Alberta | | Depart home city to Calgary and meet your tour guide at the airport for your transfer to the hotel. This evening, enjoy the sights and sounds of the world famous Calgary Stampede! The Chuckwagon races will get your adrenaline pumping, and we finish the night with a bang at the Evening Grandstand Show, featuring The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede and the spectacular ‘Light Up the Night' firework display - it's an entertainment extravaganza you won't want to miss! |
| Day 2 | Calgary, Alberta | | At your leisure head down to the Stampede grounds. Your Afternoon Rodeo pass allows entrance to the Stampede park where you can wander all day and not get bored. Come to where hides are raw, hearts untamed, and the world’s toughest stock walks on two legs. Come to rodeo’s richest, roughest ride - the Calgary Stampede rodeo. This evening, enjoy a ride up to the top of the Calgary Tower for incredible views of rolling Prairies to the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west |
| Day 3 | Banff, Alberta | | Leave the flat of the prairies behind and travel to the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
Sightseeing today includes a scenic drive along the Lake Minnewanka Loop, as well as a visit to the Cascade Gardens- one of Canada’s finest historic landscapes, beautiful Bow Falls and the Cave and Basin Mineral Pool. Later this afternoon, enjoy a spectacular tram ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain where you get a full view of the village of Banff. After you descend the mountain, take an optional soak in the therapeutic waters of the Banff Upper Hot Springs. |
| Day 4 | Sightseeing in Banff and Lake Louise | | The morning is at leisure for you to explore the townsite of Banff. This afternoon
drive a short distance to Lake Louise to visit one of the most picturesque spots
in the world. You will also view the awesome Morraine Lake and the Valley of
the Ten Peaks. Return to Banff via the Bow Valley Parkway, with a stop for a short hike along Johnson’s Canyon to the lower falls. This evening is at your leisure to enjoy the shops and restaurants in downtown Banff. |
| Day 5 | Jasper, Alberta | | Journey north today through the Icefields Parkway. This parkway is an endless succession of scenic wonders. Be sure to bring your camera to capture a photo of bears, mountain goats and beautiful deer. A special stop will be made at the unforgettable Peyto Lake. Arrive at the Columbia Icefields where you are treated to a special ride in a Snocoach across the icefields, which are over 1000 feet thick. Continuing up the parkway, stop at the dramatic Athabasca Falls before arriving in Jasper. If you are looking for a unique experience, consider taking a 1 ˝ hour float trip along the Athabasca River, the same route that was used by the “fur traders” many years ago. Tonight discover good old Western hospitality and the taste of Alberta beef at a barbeque dinner in the mountains. A local interpretive guide will join your group and you will hear amazing stories about the wildlife in the National Park. |
| Day 6 | Jasper, Alberta | | Start your day with a ride up the Jasper Tramway. Enjoy breakfast at the peak of Whistler Mountain, offering a great view of Jasper and its alpine surroundings. For lunch, there will be leisure time to explore the many unique shops on the main street of rustic Jasper. Sightseeing this afternoon will include a gentle hike down Maligne Canyon, where you will see how the fast flowing Maligne River has carved spectacular crevices out of the mountain. Also enjoy a fully narrated Cruise on Maligne Lake to the picturesque Spirit Island. |
| Day 7 | Edmonton, Alberta | | Say goodbye to Jasper and travel east to Edmonton. This evening is at leisure for you to discover West Edmonton Mall – the largest mall in the World! Various sections of the mall are themed after such famous destinations as Paris, New Orleans and England and it features over 800 stores.
Experience the city of Edmonton on a guided tour including Downtown Edmonton, Alberta Legislature Building, Jasper Avenue, City Hall, Churchill Square, Chinatown, North Saskatchewan River Valley, University of Alberta and Old Strathcona. |
| Day 8 - 10 | Edmonton's Indy Race | | The three most exhilarating summer days in Western Canada are during the Edmonton Indy. The IZOD IndyCar Series makes its only Western Canadian stop of the year from July 23-25, 2010 when it roars into Edmonton, Alberta. Premier open wheel drivers will challenge the 14 turn temporary road course that has proven to be one of the most challenging tracks on the entire IZOD IndyCar Series calendar. World class motorsports, live music and an interactive midway ensure this event will be the highlight of your summer. |
