The Klondike Trail - Alaska and the Yukon24 Days
Day 1Home City / Calgary, AB
Depart home city to Calgary, home of the famous Calgary Stampede. Time permitting, enjoy a guided city tour including a stop at Canada Olympic Park, home of the 1988 Winter Olympics. This evening enjoy a cocktail cruise aboard the SS. Moyie at the Heritage Park Historical Village.
Day 2Calgary / Edmonton, AB
Travel north to the friendly, cosmopolitan city of Edmonton. Take a guided city tour of Edmonton and get acquainted with Alberta’s capital city including the Alberta Legislature Building, Jasper Ave, City Hall, Old Strathcona historical area, Chinatown, The Avenue of Nations, Edmonton’s Art District, University of Alberta Campus, and prominent residential areas. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the 8th Wonder of the World – West Edmonton Mall.
Day 3Edmonton
This morning enjoy a fully narrated guided tour of Edmonton that combines colorful anecdotes, humorous stories and well–researched historical facts. Including...Downtown Edmonton

Then step back in time and trace Edmonton's history from the 1846 fur trade to the roaring twenties at Fort Edmonton Park. Interact with the costumed interpreters who recreate daily activities and re enact important events of past Edmonton.
Day 4Edmonton / Dawson Creek, BC
Our departure leaves the crowds at home today as we journey north, stopping at Rochfort Bridge Trading Post, and on to Grande Prairie, the fastest growing city in Alberta. Continuing on to Dawson Creek, BC we pass through the great northern prairie region of Alberta. While in Dawson Creek we will stop at the Mile '0' Post and the Northern Alberta Railway Park, the beginning of the Alaska Highway.
Day 5Dawson Creek / Fort Nelson, BC
We continue northwest today on the historic Alaska Highway as we drive through British Columbia's picturesque Peace Country with its rich abundance of natural resources of electrical power, agriculture land, oil, gas, and forestry. We stop at Fort St. John, “The Energetic City” before arriving in Fort Nelson.
Day 6Fort Nelson / Watson Lake, Yukon
As we travel to the “Gateway to the Yukon” today, we enjoy a journey through peaceful valleys and alpine meadows. We will enjoy a brief stop at Liard Hot Pools, Canada’s most spectacular natural hot springs. Following a stop at the “World Famous Sign Post Forest” we will tour the Northern Lights Centre to experience the myths, folklore and science of the northern lights. (B)
Day 7Watson Lake / Whitehorse, Yukon
Today we cross the longest bridge along the Alaska Highway, the Nisutlin Bay Bridge in Teslin, Yukon. You will enjoy the reflections of the glorious range of mountains in the crystal clear lakes that dot the area, on our way to Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon and a city of character, colour and contrasts. This evening you will be entertained at the famous Whitehorse Frantic Follies.
Day 8Whitehorse
A local tour guide will join us this morning for a City Tour of Whitehorse, which will include Miles Canyon, the Fish Ladder, the Transportation Museum and the SS Klondike National Historic Site. We are then welcomed to the Attractions Canada Award Winner, the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre for a guided prehistoric journey to the ancient sub-continent of Beringia. This afternoon you will have an opportunity to learn about, walk among and feed the most magical animals in the world, the reindeer, at a Reindeer Farm. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy in the City of Whitehorse, and in the evening we visit the Yukon Mining Company for a BBQ Dinner at the most popular eatery in Whitehorse.
Day 9 & 10Whitehorse / Beaver Creek, Yukon
Beaver Creek / Fairbanks, Alaska
Day 9 - Today you will pass through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world as we pass picturesque lakes and vast forests to colourful Haines Junction. When we reach Beaver Creek we visit the Visitor Reception Centre and attend the Rendezvous Dinner Theatre in the evening where songs and skits will add to your dining enjoyment.
Day 10 - Today you will continue ever northwest along the Alcan Route. Residents here consider this the “true Alaska” – wide open, wild and free. A late afternoon arrival is planned in Fairbanks, the State’s second largest city, for a two–night stay.
Day 11Fairbanks
A full day to explore the heart of Alaska. Join us for an unforgettable cruise into the history of Interior Alaska, aboard the authentic sternwheeler Riverboat Discovery III. As you take a leisurely journey along the banks of Chena and Tanana Rivers you will see an Indian Village and learn about the river systems of Alaska. This evening enjoy the “Good as Gold Revue” and an Alaska Salmon Bake.
Day 12Denali National Park, Alaska
Today, we explore Denali National Park on an exciting 6–hour tundra wildlife tour. Denali National Park features North America’s highest mountain, 20,320–foot tall Mount McKinley. The Alaska Range also includes countless other spectacular mountains and many large glaciers. Denali’s more than 6 million acres also encompass a complete sub–arctic eco-system with large mammals such as grizzly bears, wolves, sheep, and moose.
Day 13 & 14Anchorage, Alaska
Depart Denali this morning to Anchorage, Alaska's most cosmopolitan city. Anchorage is a great place for shopping and dining and you will surely enjoy this oasis of civilization amidst the rugged beauty that is Alaska. We take a sightseeing cruise of Prince William Sound to see as many as 26 tidewater glaciers in one day. The waters are generally calm, and you may see whales, sea otters, and the abundant bird life that thrives there.
Day 15 & 16Anchorage / Tok Junction, Alaska
Tok Junction / Dawson City, Yukon
Day 15 - The awesome scenery continues as you drive through Alaska's great farming country in the Matanuska Valley to Glenallen. You will then skirt along Wrangell St. Elias National Park, on the Glenn Highway, to Tok Junction – known as the dog mushing capital of the world.
Day 16 - Leaving Alaska today you will cross the international border and return to the Yukon at one of the loveliest crossings in the world. Many people consider this to be a true highlight of their visit north as its breathtaking vistas typify the “Great Land” that once was all North America. We arrive in “The City of Gold”– Dawson City.
Day 17Dawson City
You can’t help but relive the return to fame and fortune in 1897 on the streets of Dawson City today. This morning you visit an actual Gold–Mining Dredge and try “Panning for Gold”. This afternoon we experience a historic return to 1902 with “Afternoon Tea” and a tour of the historic Commissioner’s Residence. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the boardwalk of Dawson City. We will end our day with a Panoramic River Cruise aboard a sternwheeler to Moosehide Island for a Smoked Salmon Barbecue. (D)
Day 18 & 19Dawson City / Whitehorse, Yukon
Whitehorse / Skagway
Day 18 - Southbound today along the Klondike Highway you will pass Lake Laberge – made famous by Robert Service’s poem, “The Cremation of Sam McGee”.
Day 19 - After the morning journey to Carcross and Fraser, you will board the White Pass and Yukon Route narrow gauge train to relive history as you travel along the famous White Pass. The scenery here is among the most breathtaking you will encounter. After you arrive in the Alaska port village of Skagway, you will have time to explore this quaint area.
Day 20The Inside Passage
Today we board the highway ferry for a one–night sailing of the beautiful Inside Passage. The enchanting waterway offers ever changing vistas of deep fjords, dense forests, massive ice flows and jagged inlets. A day filled with unforgettable impressions and photo opportunities.
Day 21 & 22Prince Rupert, BC
Prince Rupert / Prince George
Day 21 - After a day of sailing through spectacular scenery and sea life, we arrive at Prince Rupert, our destination for the night.
Day 22 - Wind your way along the scenic Yellowhead Highway through the Skeena River Valley. The scenery is breathtaking, and wildlife such as moose, black bears and eagles may be glimpsed. En route we will visit the alpine–themed town of Smithers, with its red brick sidewalks and Bavarian storefronts. This afternoon we stop at the Vanderhoof Heritage Village Museum. We retire for the evening at Prince George.
Day 23Prince George / Jasper, AB
Continuing eastward today, you will reenter the Great Canadian Rockies. Continuing along the Yellowhead Highway into the Canadian Rockies, we pause to view Mount Robson, before entering Jasper National Park. Tonight we enjoy our farewell dinner, remembering the many sights and sounds of Alaska.
Day 24Jasper / Edmonton or Calgary / Home City
Today we are homeward bound, filled with memories of new sights seen and new friends made. Transfer to the International Airport for your flight
