Adelaide is a relaxed, sophisticated city, fringed by vineyards and long, sandy beaches. North Terrace is the heart of Adelaide's cultural precinct, best known for the Art Gallery of South Australia and the South Australian Museum, exhibiting the world's largest collection of Australian Aboriginal Cultural artefacts. The city is a gourmet paradise with acclaimed restaurants, laneway bars and the Adelaide Central Market, the largest undercover fresh produce market in the Southern Hemisphere. Within a twenty minute drive of Adelaide, travelers can be by the sea in the vibrant beachside suburb of Glenelg, in the lush and charming countryside cuddling a koala in the Adelaide Hills, or sipping Australia’s most famous wine at Penfolds Magill Estate.

South Australia is synonymous with premium wine. There are more than 200 cellar doors within an hour’s drive of Adelaide. The Barossa is recognized as the wine capital of Australia and is just an hour's drive north of Adelaide. The area boasts more than 80 cellar doors, ranging from quaint boutique labels through to large international brands such as Penfolds and Jacob’s Creek. The Barossa provides abundant opportunities to go beyond the cellar door including making your own blend, joining a master class, taking a cooking class or cycling through the vineyards.

The Flinders Ranges is dominated by sharply rising ridges and peaks, tree-lined gorges, creeks and red soil and Aboriginal legend says these landscapes were shaped by the ancient serpents and giants of the Dreamtime. This is the home of brilliantly colored parrots, Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies, kangaroos and emus, and Australia’s largest bird of prey, the Wedge Tailed Eagle. The focal point of this extraordinary national park and certainly South Australia’s best-known natural landmark is Wilpena Pound, an amphitheatre of mammoth proportions. The area provides abundant hiking opportunities, thrilling scenic flights, as well as fully escorted four wheel drive safaris into hidden gorges adorned with rare and sacred Aboriginal rock art.

The Gawler Ranges at the top of the Eyre Peninsula are a spectacular wilderness area of unspoiled beauty. Vast domes of volcanic rock display a vivid array of color against the pure white of the many salt lakes in the area, including Lake Gairdner. The Ranges are renowned for their display of wildflowers in the spring, and some 140 species of birds have been recorded. Also found in the Ranges are the Red and Western Grey Kangaroo, Euro, Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat, Pygmy Possum and Hopping Mouse. Gawler Ranges Wilderness Safaris combine a tour of this region with the Baird Bay swimming experience with the Australian Sea Lions and Dolphins.

Kangaroo Island is considered by many as the best place to see wildlife in the wild in Australia. Across the different ecosystems on the island, visitors will encounter kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, seals, Australian sea lions, goannas and more, among the many walking trails, secluded coves, and white-sand beaches. With sublime coastlines, rural life, friendly locals, exceptional wineries, food and wildlife experiences, Kangaroo Island is a must on any Australian itinerary.

South Australia is an ever-changing, pristine wilderness with over 2300 miles of coastline. From coast to vineyards, and forest to outback, there is no shortage of inspiring and breathtaking scenery.
