Dakota Dunes Casino, which opened in 2007, is located just 20 minutes south of Saskatoon on the Whitecap First Nations. This impressive facility with over 800,000 sq ft of gaming and entertainment space is located on a hill-top above the South Saskatchewan River, offering a panoramic view.
History buffs will be intrigued by Batoche National Historic Site and the story of Louis Riel and the 1885 Resistance, or by one of four Western Development Museums, located in Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Saskatoon and Yorkton, which provide a glimpse into the settlement history of western Canada.
Saskatchewan has something for every outdoor enthusiast. Thirty-four provincial parks offer a choice of wilderness, great recreation, and intriguing historic sites. Prince Albert National Park is a popular four-season destination, covering some 388,000 hectares of aspen parkland and boreal forest with some 1,500 lakes and streams. Grasslands National Park preserves one of Canada’s last remaining tracts of prairie grassland.
