Nestled at the base of the majestic Canadian Rockies in southwestern Alberta is a working cattle ranch called Lonesome Pine Ranch. Here you may find cowboys on cattle drives and round-ups, branding, rodeoing, or going for a leisurely horseback ride. Horse Pack Trips

Cattle Drives

Imagine yourself heading back in time and moving cattle over the picturesque rolling landscape of Alberta. You will view wildlife that may include elk and deer as they mingle with the wide variety of cattle found in Alberta. Enjoy becoming familiar with horses that range in breed from Appaloosa, to Percheron, to Quarter horses. You will ride and drive cattle with experienced ranch hands. After a day in the saddle, you can spend the evening savoring a delicious home cooked meal and gazing peacefully into the glow of the crackling campfire.

Alberta Prairie Railway

Experience an exciting one day adventure aboard a real steam or diesel powered train. Different themes are enacted throughout the season, including murder mysteries, family, dinner theater, seniors and teddy bear specials. At some point during your excursion the train may be brought to a screeching halt. Look out! It's the dreaded outlaw "Reynolds Raiders". After a short but furious gun battle, the money the outlaws took from the passengers is retrieved. During your journey on board the train you will travel through the beautiful rolling and treed countryside of Alberta's Parkland.

Departures:
The train leaves Stettler, Alberta and returns 5 - 6 hours later. Stettler is located in the heart of Central Alberta and is a leisurely 3 hour drive from Calgary OR 2 ½ hours from Edmonton.
